This slurry wall was a continuation of a long-standing contract between the City of Greeley and Hall-Irwin to oversee the mining of Poudre Ponds Pond B. Our crews previously constructed the soil-bentonite cutoff wall around Pond A in 2002, so Greeley hired Hall-Irwin to build a slurry wall around Pond B as well. This improvements project consisted of three elements: the 240,000 SF soil-bentonite cutoff wall around Pond B, a 36” steel pipe interconnect with a slide gate between Ponds A and B, and a rip rap rundown spillway structure on the north end of Pond A to protect the slurry wall from any Poudre River flood events.
