As the Continuous Improvement Engineer at Hall Irwin, you will play a pivotal role in spearheading our company's Lean transformation within the industry. Your primary responsibilities will involve conducting thorough assessments of our current construction processes, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and utilizing Lean methodologies to optimize workflows. You will be at the forefront of driving a sustained Lean culture, contributing to our long-term strategy, and making a significant impact on the efficiency and success of our construction projects. Emphasizing the importance of this role and the accompanying transformation, this position will report directly to the President of the organization.

Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Serve as company Lean expert and mentor to both field and office personnel, including project managers, estimators, foremen, and leadership

  • Gather, compile, and analyze data on project execution metrics to implement Lean practices and enhance the execution of all construction and slurry wall projects, conducting special studies where directed

  • Identify opportunities for schedule and cost efficiencies while monitoring and reporting on cost savings

  • Communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to promote initiatives, creating reports and presentations appropriate to all stakeholders

  • Ensure that Lean practices align with the continuous improvement of safety standards

  • Foster a team approach to problem solving and implement frameworks for problem resolution

  • Lead and facilitate process improvement workshops including Root Cause Analyses, Process Mapping, Value Stream Mapping, planning and execution of Kaizen events, etc., to address specific construction challenges

  • Create and maintain value stream maps to visualize and analyze construction processes

  • Conduct training sessions for project teams on Lean concepts and tools

  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial engineering, or a relevant field with a minimum of 5 years of continuous improvement experience

  • Proven experience implementing Lean principles and methodologies, with experience in the construction industry being highly desirable

  • Lean Six Sigma certification is highly desirable

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus

  • Motivated self-starter who is willing to take ownership in challenging environments

  • Strong communication skills both internally and externally

  • Technologically savvy, able to communicate challenges and successes through meaningful metrics

  • Travel as necessary across the front range to conduct Kaizen events on site as well as other training and continuous improvement projects

  • Knowledge of construction safety standards and a commitment to integrating them into Lean processes

  • Current driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle record

  • Familiarity with Microsoft, Bluebeam, and related construction project management software
